Secret Weapon by MxPx
Release Date: July 17, 2007

The reunion between MxPx and Tooth & Nail records is complete for this album. Secret Weapon is the highly
anticipated album from the Punk Rockers from Bremerton, Washington. This sixteen track album may be their best album ever.
The first track, "Secret Weapon", starts things off with a bang. This track is short, 2:06, but may be the most memorable
song after your listening experience (it was for me at least). Then the next track is "Shut It Down", it has the punk edge
that you expect from MxPx. This track also stands out in the album as one of the best songs. The third track is "Here's To
The Life", this song's lyrics say Here's to the life/that we always never wanted. This track may not stand out as
much as "Secret Weapon" or "Shut It Down", but it is defiantly a good song that deserves recognition. "Top of The Charts"
is the next track; this song sounds like some older albums such as Before Everything And After or even Let's
Rock. The fifth track, "Punk Rawk Celebrity" is an interesting song; it has an old MxPx feel yet still sounds similar
to their old stuff. The next track is "Contention"; this track is a short, catchy, fast paced song. Followed by "Contention"
is "Angels", which is a good song with great lyrics. Next is "Drowning", which is one of the top songs on the album. The ninth
track is "Chop Shop", it is one of the more edgier and Punk-Rock songs on the album (and for sure isn't the highlight of the
album). After that is "You're On Fire", this song is a very catchy tune and deserves radio attention. "Bass So Low" is
the next song on the album; then "Sad Sad Song" follows, which is not your typical MxPx song. The next song is "Never Better
Than Now", which is better than the two tracks before it. Then is "Biting The Bullet" which could be one of the best tracks
on the album besides "Secret Weapon" and "Shut It Down". The last two tracks are "Not Nothing" and "Tightly Wound". This album
may very well be MxPx's best album yet. It combines the best of Panic and Before Everything And After. Overall,
great album with a few songs that were sub-par, but the great tracks outweighs those couple of tracks.
