Messengers by August Burns Red
Release Date: June 19, 2007

August Burns Red's second full length release is Messengers. They have defiantly kept the same sound as
on their debut album. But it is actually more aggresive and heavier than Thrill Seekers. The addition of new vocalist
Jake Luhr has really took their sound to the next level. It starts off with "The Truth Of A Liar", which could be the best
track on the album. Everything just blends together on that song, and progresses very nicley. The second track, "Up Against
The Ropes", is also a very good track. The drumming on that track is great. "Back Burner" and "The Eleventh Hour" could be
the heaviest tracks on the album, and that's saying a lot on this album. "The Blinding Light" follows "Back Burner", and after
that is "Compusure". "Vital Signs" is the sixth track, this track has amazing guitars in it. "The Eleventh Hour" follows that,
and as mentioned earlier, it is the hardest track on the album next to "Back Burner". Those two tracks are not for the faint
of heart. "The Balance" and "Black Sheep" are followed. Then is "American Dream" which is probably the second best track on
the album. Followed by that is the last track "Redemption". There are no letdowns from this album. It is hardcore from beginning
to end, it never lets up. If you're not used to the genre, the album could seem to sound a little repetative. But, I wouldn't
reccomend this album if you're not used to the hardcore genre. Overall though, it is one of the best hardcore releases of
2007! A must have for any Heavy Metal fan!!
